An unfaithful husband has tested positive for coronavirus after secretly traveling to Italy for his extramarital affair.
Italy has been the country hardest hit by the spread of coronavirus, outside of China. The European nation has over 35,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with over 3000 deaths, according to the BBC.
The man, who has not been identified, lied to his unsuspecting wife by telling her he was going on a business trip within the country, reported the Sun.
Upon returning home from his affair, the late-30s man started feeling ill and started having some symptoms. He went to the hospital, he was tested and it was confirmed he was infected with COVID-19.
The man’s wife is in isolation at the couple’s home in northern England and allegedly does not know how he contracted the virus.
The adulterer recounted the details of how he got infected to medical professionals, but would not reveal the identity of his mistress.
“He thought he had the perfect alibi to carry out his affair, but hadn’t reckoned on the coronavirus meltdown,” A source told the British newspaper. “His case would be funny if it wasn’t quite so serious.”
“The patient is just relieved he got home before flights were canceled.” That would have been tough to explain.
According to the report, the man is expected to survive the outbreak. The health status of his marriage is to be determined.
It is also unclear if the mistress is aware of her lover’s diagnosis or if she has been tested.
Overall avoid having sex with anyone outside your household. Stay home and minimize contact with others to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
